In the opening sequence of Dragon's Dogma the titular dragon knocks the protagonist down, steals his/her heart and flies away, but at the end the you stab him in the glowing part of his chest and get your heart back so that's cool. Quake 4 had a huge biomechanical heart somewhere in Strogg HQ pumping soylent or something. Is John Romero's impaled head considered a "heart"?

I think FarCry Blood Dragon should be on this list also. It had you collecting hearts as ammo

In The Darkness 2 you restrain a man as you actually break open his ribs, and tear his heart out of his body and watch it beat as the blood splatters. I found it very surreal and amazing, the man did deserve it through for all the vile things he did.

Bragg. After what he pulled at Aunt Sarah's funeral, i couldn't have found a more suitable demise.

Neat little nod to Tubba Blubba in the end slide, i love how the boss was essentially his heart.
  • Vonter - February 11, 2014 10:34 p.m.

Yay Tubba Blubba was my favorite character in Paper Mario. Just think about it, a monster that eats the death and it's invincible because it has no heart.

As of recent ones who would have guessed Hades heart was Bomberman? [Kid Icarus Uprising].
  • shawksta - February 11, 2014 11:53 p.m.

Goddamn Hades Heart was a massive asshole Even bigger when one of the missions want you to defeat it with a CLUB, A GODDAMN CLUB
  • Baz - February 12, 2014 12:38 p.m.

Shot through the heart and you're to blame. The game? Sniper elite v2. Can't believe you didn't include sniping somebody through the heart.

I dont know if it was directly to the heart but Hansom Jack capping Roland from behind in BL2 sucked hard.....

In Tower of Latria 3-2, you sort of destroy a giant beating artificial heart filled with man centipedes. Can't forget, causing damage to the heart of all worlds, The Kingdom Hearts.

Funny thing about Contra was back in the day, the Konami Code was a crutch for me, necessary to only remove the psychological fear of not having enough lives. If I did not use the code, I couldn't beat the game. However, if I used the code and had 30 lives, with room to screw up I was not stressed about having only 3 lives and could and regularly did beat the game without dying even once, regularly every morning before school at 7am I would turn on my Nintendo, beat Contra in about 10-12 min and then turn off the console and run outside to catch the school bus at about 715am.

Kingdom Hearts ~ Birth by Sleep. Ventus destroys the χ-blade—which is composed of his heart and Vanitas' heart.
  • kitatojirin - April 20, 2014 4:25 p.m.

Alice: Madness Returns could have been on here too! She smashes a TON of hearts in the Red Queens castle toward the end! My favourite ones are as Giant Alice and you literally stomp all over them, crushing them beneath your mighty slip-on.

I might be wrong on this but I think the final boss of epic mickey was a heart
