Gameplay videos of Sonic: Lost World's Wii U and 3DS versions

Sonic: Lost World is fast, colorful, and filled with new takes on series staples. See it yourself in IGN's first look at both the Wii U and 3DS versions of the upcoming game, ahead of its debut at E3 next week.

That's the Wii U version above. On top of the play you see there, Sonic: Lost World will also add in a cooperative play mode which casts a Wii-remote bearing player as Sonic's sidekick Tails, lending a hand through remote-controlled gadgets, and a local competitive mode using the GamePad and TV screens.

Above is the same Windy Hill region as the previous video, but this time for 3DS. It bears the same name and a similar approach, but it's not a port; Sonic: Lost World for 3DS has entirely new level designs to match the mobile system's capabilities. It will support four-player Versus mode locally or online.

What do you think of the blue blur's new style?

I don't feel a sense of exhilarating speed when i watch either of these. That last honeycomb level i was constantly thinking "does he go any faster?". Maybe generations (and unleashed which i never played) have spoiled me into expecting that kind of speed from every sonic game from now on. Ah well.

When the speed runs of this game come out i'm going to be dizzy and nauseous

This felt very much like a Sonic adaptation of Mario Galaxy... and I LOVE IT. I love what they're about his speed too, Sonic was always about going fast but you always had a level that would support having to go slow as well at least in some parts. Speed is good but having control is most important.

Cool that we actually got quite a lot of gameplay footage revealed to us. I'll keep an eye on this. Looks pretty good so far!

Yeah i read the entire thing on IGN. Sega is trading the push on realism for the sake of Gameplay which frankly is really looking good. And the fact that every level provided a different obstacle concept looks like its adapting the standard Mario Galaxy 2 set up that not allot of games do when their focus is story progression. Color's wisp power's returning can also really help the gameplay mechanic. Also making differences between the Wii U and 3DS is great. Im interesting to know what this "local and online" 4 player vs mode is. Its way too easy and painfully %100 true that Sonic is by far the #1 most Beated Dead Horse in the history of video games but he may have time to shine if Sega gets it right, Colors brought Sonic a unique gameplay mechanic that worked and didnt get people bitching, Generations was fanservice to the fanbase with no gimmicks at all and now its time for Sega to really show what they can do, hopefully it doesnt hit a rock and crumble.

what system ya got? i have a 3ds and i'm a smidge worried about how much better the wiiU version looks, with the more zoomed out view and smaller tube to run around, also the transition from tube to tube, the wiiU had a cool mario galaxy feel but the 3ds only shows a close up of sonic flying kinda gets me worried about the next smash bros too i really hope there won't be a gap the game still looks great but it's funky to see something to compare it too so soon

after watching another 3ds gameplay video it's diffidently that transition that bothers me, i think they do it that way either because of limits(they have to divide sections to have it run smoothly) or because it would be tedious to code (not sure if in game development they just write code or use some kind of custom editor, writing code is exhausting i can't blame them for the generic transition for each time you go between sections if that the reason), more likely it the 1st reason

I own a 3DS, Wii, PC(use it for specific games only) and 360, planning to get a Wii U and PS Vita(eventually) I know what you mean but i think the perspective on the 3DS version is going the similar route of Super Mario 3D Land. Its too early to judge but also we have to take into account we havent seen the game with 3D. Though there is a generic transition. I guess we need to wait.

woah that's some spread yep it maybe too early to judge i guess the transition thing just nitpicking

I don't believe in only owning one console. And My PC just happens to be powerful enough to play certain games. Yeah, hopefully it'll get better later on.

feel free to just skim and maybe skip the largest text chunk or just to the lower half under the larger spacing pretty much only use my pc for free online games(like the one my profile pic from, cosmic break) or fan made games i'm pretty much all nintendo but i still look into games for other consoles when they look interesting, i try not to be into the console wars but i couldn't help make fun of the ps move or all stars, they kinda lacked subtlety in the right places the ps moves appearance and the all stars cosmetically i can't tell apart but the battle system was pretty screwy btw what's with the option to remove stage hazards nonsense? love smash bros cause of the chaos, why do people turn off items and only do final destination? bleh competitive is no fun takes the party out of it. i'm not saying that cause i suck without items ether i won my school's tourney(with jigglypuff , always more fun to beat people with the cutest character, i miss pichu T-T) and one of the dudes was ranked 32 in the national tourny (what ever that means....didn't even know that was a thing) i seriously doubt every good player or even the very best is competitive in that sense or at least i hope they aren't kill joys but anyway isn't that spread expensive? isn't that what the console wars about since most people can choose only one? most popular console gets most devs working on stuff for it. lost worlds will diffidently be better, colors and generations stopped the decline, and no more over drama/humans(sonic team's major flaw to me seems that they take their stories too serious or something, how many times have they unleashed satan and "ended" the world? actually generations was still funky story wise but they didn't constantly focus on world ending or what ever, it was just a excuse to tie the levels together) basically they have a bad mix between cute and serious

oh why couldn't it be a port, not like any one getting both versions either way, right? noticed the 3ds version has borders on the sides so your running on arcs or wedges rather than a tube sorry it's not like i'm obsessing for it but the song is catchy and i end up watching the video again
