Since I realize most of you still haven’t played Metro 2033, even though I personally recommended the unique and atmospheric horror-themed shooter in our Top 7 most overlooked games of 2010, here’s another reason: the sequel is coming, and the sequel is looking impressive.
These two minutes are taken from Metro: Last Light’s E3 demo and showcase the game’s environmental design. Flashlights piercing through fog, shadows warping across tunnel walls, broken bulbs plunging the post-apocalyptic battleground into suffocating darkness… all that’s missing are the original’s trademark monsters. Hopefully those will show up in the promised Part II video coming July 28, because even though Metro 2033’s shooting and stealth mechanics needed some improvement, I’d hate for the sequel to turn into an underground Call of Duty clone.
