First clip from Django Unchained: watch now

The first clip from Django Unchained has emerged online, featuring our first proper look at Don Johnson’s character, Spencer Gordon “Big Daddy” Bennet.

Bennett is a wealthy plantation owner sporting a Colonel Sanders-esque white suit, and a tinkling Southern-gentleman accent. And while he isn’t overly keen to see Schultz and Django, he isn’t one to turn down the opportunity to make some easy cash.

Just how Bennet fits into the plot as a whole remains to be seen, but his appearance here does allows for some excellent moustache twiddling from both he and Schultz.

Check it out, below (around 4:03) from Johnson's appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno…

And that’s some good, old-fashioned Southern hospitality. It looks as though low-key characters are going to be few and far between in this one, with grizzled cowboys and flamboyant land-owners very much the order of the day.

Directed by Quentin Tarantino and co-starring Jamie Foxx, Christoph Waltz and Leonardo DiCaprio, Django Unchained will open in the UK on 18 January 2013.
