Our pals over at CVG caught onto a Famitsu story about Final Fantasy Versus XIII being put on hold. Here's what they had to say:
Words: Mike Jackson, CVG UK
"The plot of the Versus quest, which is entirely separate to the straight-up FFXIII title, is now complete. But it's been put on the backburner so that the Versus team can help out with the final touches on FFXIII, which is said to be the number one priority, according to Famitsu."
However, this morning, Kotaku reports that Versus has not been put on hold and the dev team is simply pulling double duty:
"Reports that development for Final Fantasy Versus XIII is on hold are false," the publisher said in a statement passed on to Eurogamer. "The truth of the situation is that when free, some staff from the Versus team have been helping with the XIII team on development of Final Fantasy XIII. Development for both titles is continuing as originally scheduled."
Ultimately, it doesn't matter because neither game has been given a release date and trailers have yet to feature any actual gameplay. Hopefully Square Enix's upcoming private press party will rectify that last issue for at least one of the games - but our guess is it won't be Versus.
