FIFA 12: Behind-the-scenes videos of the new commentary team in action, may include Spaceballs reference

It's out with the old super sexist and in with the new as FIFA 12 turfs out Andy Gray and bring in ex-Arsenal player, Alan Smith to provide the commentary with FIFA stalwart, Martin Tyler. We managed to capture the dynamic duo spitting some brand-spanking new commentary that will eventually be featured in FIFA 12, which is out in September.

Listen out for colourful chatter about upcoming transfers that will be threaded through the new career mode (more on this very soon) and quite an off-kilter segue into talk about the movie, Spaceballs. Anyway, enough words, let's hear the men go at it...

Transfers and player retirements

Naughty tackles and epic matches

Unattainable players and Spaceballs

Penalties and fluffed shots

I still would like the DLC they had for Fifa 09 for ALT commentry with Andy Townsend and Clive Tyldesley that wasnt bad Btw the captcha was: decoli United I think captcha is creating teams :O

Why not Gary Neville as commentator!? I bet he'll do more big games than Alan Smith next season. All he covers are Arsenal games. An he hates United where as Andy Gray was more immpartial.

I honestly can't think of a great co-commentator. Andy Gray, despite being a sexist, was about the best there was. Alan Smith isn't my favourite, but it could be worse (Lawrenson, Pleat, Townsend).

I'd pay £3 for Chris Kamara DLC commentary. I'd also take James Richardson over any of these guys involved.

I'm fine with Smith. He's now the senior co-commentator at Sky, so he's the natural replacement for Gray. And I thoroughly doubt EA will let him be biased in the game! Also, why does everyone always want Kamara when he isn't even a commentator?!

    @shane86 - second that!! :-D

Just someone who isn't biased and enjoys football. I like Martin Tyler because he loves the game but I suppose those commentators are rare and you need an ex-footballer on there. I just find Alan Smith too biased. I suppose he's not a bad commentator providing they make sure he doesn't come across as biased. Apparently there is an option to have Clive Tyldesley and Andy Townsend as the commentators instead. Or that they are commentating on all the cup matches according to the press release.

Not much love for Alan Smith on here then! Who would you have preferred?
  • JornnyRamone - June 30, 2011 11:59 a.m.

Wasn't Alan Smith commentary available in Fifa '09 as paid for DLC or am I thinking of somebody else? I'm just glad to see that EA are making an effort this year to actually add more commentary instead of re-using recordings from 2 years ago. Maybe the loss of Andy Gray was a good thing... well, for another reason at least! :D

Sigh. I guess it was too much to hope for Gary Neville! :p
  • Markoose16 - June 30, 2011 11:46 a.m.

Oh not fucking Alan Smith, the most pro-Arsenal commentator on Sky. I'm a Spurs fan and during the derby last season he was practically having an orgasm whenever Arsenal put 3 passes together. Even when Arsenal were playing other teams like during the Liverpool match he wanted to suck Nasri off. I expect nothing but Arsenal praising from this wanker on FIFA 12. Worst commentator they could have chosen to replace Andy Gray.
  • greengibbon - June 30, 2011 1:25 p.m.

No doubt the guy's a legend. He's very good at shouting at Jeff Stelling from a gantry. He's just not a commentator.
  • Shane86 - June 30, 2011 12:55 p.m. Don't tell me you wouldn't want this guy in your FIFA 12, Unbelievable Jeff!
  • Shane86 - June 30, 2011 12:23 p.m.

    Chris Kamara obviously!
