This looks awesome. My Wii U purchase is looking like a verrry smart decision. Will definitely be waiting for new news.

I've never played any Xeno games, but Xenoblade Chronicles looked awesome. Too bad I never owned a Wii, though maybe I'll dive into them with the WiiU granted I ever get one.

As said, pretty sure it's just going to have online co op and not be an MMO. Would definitely be useful compared to the extremely limited control of your party you had in Xenoblade. And I do hope Shulk is not involved and that's supposed to be some sort of new character.

The only thing that worries me is the lack of color.

It says Xeno-franchise but correct me if I'm wrong but aren't technically Xenoblade, Xenosaga, and Xenogears all three different franchises? I know they share the same production company and that Saga and Gears share similar elements but I thought that was it. Why not just say Xenoblade sequel?

They are all different franchises that fall under the same prefix. Only reason it's not called a Xenoblade sequel in the article is because there hasn't been 100% confirmation on that just yet. I'm pretty sure that's what it'll end up being, though :P

Before we say that "The protagonist isn't a returning character from a previous Xeno franchise" we have to remember that in Xenoblade you can change who to be your party leader. Also that shulk is shown at the end of the trailer. I hope it would be Xenoblade sequel :3

Good point! My biggest question at this point is whether or not you create a character from scratch. It would seem weird to have drop in/out co-op where you pop in with pre-made characters. Like in Xenoblade, it'd be odd to have 3 Shulks running around.

"Perhaps this new game is a direct sequel with an online component? " BINGO your other explanation is stupid Its optional drop in coop its still a single player rpg sequel

Holy shit you sound like a douche bag, I really hope you're trolling. I'm embarrassed to be grouped into the same "gamer" demographic as you. On a side note, I think we could all use a new Xenoblade.

i couldn't help but think the same thing. this dude's life must be tough.

These commenters are just as stupid as the writer, the gameplay and hud are IDENTICAL to xenoblade. Neogaf screen captures have proven there are team attacks which utterly make no sense if its an mmo. its probably optional drop in coop
  • stealth2k - January 24, 2013 4:23 a.m.

The writer is a moron, if he knew anything about the trailer he would know its not an mmo or anything close. Neogaf already proved it

It looks amazing, but I'd be so disappointed if it was an MMO. Multiplayer is fine, just let me enjoy my Xeno solo. :/

Nice write up. I think the red text box in the upper left is for the enemy name though. Do an image search for "Amphicoelias" and you will find some brontosaurus-type creature (slide 5). The enemy in slide 14 translates to "Sleipnir", a common JRPG foe.

    Ah, good catch!

Great analysis. As much as I loved Xenoblade, it was not as good as Xenosaga 1 story-wise. Xenosaga 2 was so bad I quit playing it after 6-7 hours and I didn't bother with Xenosaga 3 at all. Xenogears, of course, is the king. My point is seeing the names behind this new one, I'm positive we're going to see something really good. I just hope it's not an MMO.

Nice analysis guys, the freaking mechs look awesome

that sword on the cycle (slide 20) is the same one attached to the doll robot (slide 17) plus the name is the same, so my guess is that the robot goes Transformer on our ass. wonder if it just transforms to a motorcycle

yeah just seen slide 21... nevermind. shame on me for not finishing reading/watching first
