Even Mads Mikkelsen doesn't know if Darth Vader is in Star Wars: Rogue One much

Star Wars: Rogue One is “going back to the beginning,” but Mads Mikkelsen said he didn’t get to meet Darth Vader when we sat down with him to talk about his new movie Doctor Strange. Sadly, the Hannibal star admitted he doesn’t even know if the iconic baddie is in the movie. Maybe those silent trailer appearances are all we're getting?

As well as dishing some dirt on Rogue One, Mads Mikkelsen has given us the low-down on Doctor Strange. Mikkelsen says that The Avengers has paved the way for superhero films - presumably meaning that Doctor Strange can run wild with magic, capes, and the kind of superhero shenanigans Benedict Cumberbatch is getting up to in this brief snippet.

A little bit of the gleeful child came out in Mikkelsen during the filming of Doctor Strange, as he puts it, they were allowed to “smash up things” and do “crazy flying kung-fu” all in the name of magic. As well as giving us insane things to watch onscreen, it sounds like it was pretty fun to be on set. Or, as Mikkelsen puts it, “it felt like your daddy was paying you to smash up your neighbour’s house”. What could be more fun than that, I ask you?

Directed by Scott Derickson and starring Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Tilda Swinton, Rachel McAdams, and Mads Mikkelsen, Doctor Strange is out in cinemas in the UK now, and opens in the US on November 4, 2016.
