Hmmm? I thought that Bibarel would be a capybara? He is pretty big for a rodent, he is a hybrid Water/Normal type and has big teeth! Yes, I would say Bibarel (or even Bidoof) is based off the capybara! Oh, thatd be a beaver.... THE QUESTIONS!!!

@GamesRadarCarolynGudmundson What I meant by anteater was the ones with tube noses and long tongues. I think the pangolin has a proper visible mouth. I was thinking of Qwilfish the other day too, and realized there isn't a lion/turkeyfish or parrotfish, or blue marlin/swordfish, right? There's also the Whale Shark, which is a non-menacing big fish, or the ocean sunfish. There's Octillery, but no squid or cuttlefish Pokemon. Tentacruel is like the Portuguese man'o'war, so there should be a giant squid. And if there is a giant squid, there should be a sperm whale. Another whale wouldn't be too bad; Wailord and Wailmer are too friendly, and Kyogre is on the edge of being an Orca Whale but with extended fins.

LLAMA! i dunno... psyduck looks eerily like a platypus, but i also originally thought Ho-Oh was a peacock. well... yeah, i vote for a koala, llama, and definitely a peacock.

@GamesRadarCarolynGudmundson I think Natu and Xatu are based on Native American totem poles, and the stories in Alaska and other areas of the "Thunderbird". And regarding the trees, the only Grass tree that comes to mind, that is an actual tree is Eggsecutor, and I never use his dopey face because I like my Venusaur and Roserade way better. And there are better Psychics that aren't weak to Fire.

I think there needs to be a better Panda and Shark, Spinda was disappointing and Sharpedo could have been better. I would like to see a real panda, or a shark WITH FREAKING LASER BEAMS ATTACHED TO ITS HEAD.

@510BrotherPanda I always thought Xatu was kind of like a Quetzal. And Sandshrew is based on the pangolin which is also called a scaly anteater. And yeah, I wonder if they'll ever actually do a real tree Pokemon. Bonsly and Sudowoodo look like trees, and Torterra has a full tree on its back, but there's no plain tree Pokemon.

Also, they need better Legendaries. I wasn't too enthused with Reshiram or Zekrom, and they already have Middle Eastern phoenix (Moltres) and Chinese phoenix (Ho-oh)... What about a mechanoid that looked like a factory, with chimneys and black smoke around it, and it was Dark/Steel type or Steel/Poison? The Steel or Dark would negate Psychic, and its ability could be Fiery Forge which could negate Fire damage and boost its SP. ATK/DEF. Nevermind, that kind of sounds too Digimon-ish.

For the saber tooth tiger it could be one of those fossils that can be turned into a pokemon.
  • 510BrotherPanda - July 8, 2010 8:50 p.m.

They have tongue Pokemon, but no Anteaters. And for fossilized ones, why not Archaeopteryx? They already have a pterosaur like Aerodactyl, why not the link between birds and lizards? And on birds, why not the strikingly green Quetzal or the weird digestive system Hoatzin? And a giraffe would be interesting. Girafarig is actually more like the Okapi in that it has a 2 toned body at the hindquarters. In terms of plants, there hasn't been one based on the California Redwood ,the Sequoia, or the Jerusalem Tree. Those things live to be 100s or 1000s of years old when not cut! Also the baobab, because it is a wide tree, and the mangrove, because having more on your team would replicate how mangroves grow and work together as a network, and might help the other Pokemon on the team in Triple/Double battles.

A Llama pokemon would be awesome.
  • Doctalen - July 8, 2010 8:25 p.m.

I would love an actual Platypus pokemon and a Llama. The Platypus could be named something like Bilypus(maybe?) and the Llama could be Krunk.
  • enlargedhousecats - July 8, 2010 8:24 p.m.

@Teh_Ty They already have. Don't you know about Rapidash?
  • busterdog82 - July 8, 2010 8:19 p.m.

The duck in Psyduck should be a hint to everyone that the pokemon is in fact a duck, but it looks more like a platypus than a duck
  • skroWdetimiLedalB - July 8, 2010 8:16 p.m.

What about a Komodo Dragon? D:
  • db1331 - July 8, 2010 8:13 p.m.

I like where you're taking this post, LizarDAZZLE...
  • LizarDAZZLE - July 8, 2010 8:01 p.m.

if they did have a peacock pokemon, they'd have to keep in mind that only males would have the fancy tails. They're the only ones that need them, for sex.

With some goodwill, Psyduck can be based upon a platypus. "Psyduck resembles a yellow duck or platypus with a vacant stare." according to Bulbapedia. [http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Psyduck_%28Pok%C3%A9mon%29]
