E3 09: Left 4 Dead 2 announced!

Holy smokes! Who saw this coming? Valve has just announced the sequel to last year's multiplayer zombie-killing smash hit (and Maximum PC's Game of the Year). Left 4 Dead 2 will be released on November 17th, and will feature five new campaigns that follow the story of four new survivors. PC Gamer has the full scoop in an exclusive 8-page feature in their August issue, which hits newsstands this month. Check out the cover below, which features two of the new survivors: Rochelle and Coach (Rochelle is an aspiring cable network news anchor, and Coach is a high school PE coach).

This is just going to be more of the same crap as L4D. Now dont get me wrong, L4D was fun, but it could have been so much better if they made it LOOK graphically better and more creepy. They are using a dated engine. They need new stuff. Im tired of valve pumping out crap.

Okay so lets look at the characters. So we have the drug lord.the prostitute(she loks like one on the mag cover). the fat mofo. and the scout.wtf. Anyone else notice that they probably cant use the hand this time around cuz the box is gonna flipping the bird?

I'm still fairly excited about this announcement. I'll reserve final judgment until after the beta, or reviews. I enjoyed the first one and can't think of anything else quite as intense. recaptcha: was revved

I agree. I don't see how this is a sequel, it should be an expansion pack. I think they fucked up if this game is a totally different app and you can't play the "old" chars/maps if you have LFD1 installed also. Nobody who didn't buy LFD is going to buy LFD2, really. So they are going to be splitting their player base in half. That doesn't strike me as a wise business decision. Also, I don't see enough content here to warrant calling it a sequel. How many maps does LFD1 have, 4.1? Finally, I'm not completely anal about realism, but I saw a video of a guy lighting zombies on fire with "burning bullets" -- what's next, a lightning gun? I hope you know what the fuck you are doing Valve (you usually do).

HOLY CRAP thts awsome they have a fat guy, the funniest thing is when ther was just the first left 4 dead, i told my friends it needed a fat guy AND BAM! they made a fat guy. Every game needs a fat guy.

L4D2 is a sucker punch aimed at your wallet and this teaser an embarassment to the insightful talent that was Turtle Rock. L4D should never have Dead Rising mechanics. And, it looks like RE5 and Dead Rising 2 were broken up and shoved down into a mixer. Why would Valve create this monstrosity (franchizing); will there be time limit challenges (oh please no), did they mess up the controller schematics(what do you think)? Where is the asian character (in math class)? Is it as bad as the 'Land of the Dead' movie? (?) ? A mall level by itself would not redeem this game; and, it's sad to think that the 'zombie apocalypse' has just been nuked back to hell. Where is Duke Nukem?
