Donkey Kong Country Tropical freeze delayed until February

Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze has been delayed out of this year. DK's return to platforming was originally scheduled to release on Dec. 6 in North America, but it "needs a little more time," Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata said in today's Nintendo Direct.

Tropical Freeze will now arrive in Feb. 2014. You can check out our impressions of Retro Studios' further ape adventures here.

It's an unfortunate loss for Wii U's holiday lineup, which otherwise includes Super Mario 3D World, Wii Fit U, and Mario and Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympic Games.

Let's hope the extra time helps to ensure that this game turns out to be the Donkey Kong Country 2 of the Returns series.

Classic Nintendo Move. Guess we now know what's the only exclusive Wii U owners can look forward to maintain them for the first quarter, or even first half of 2014 now...

Mario Kart and Super Smash Bros. are coming out early 2014, probably going to overshadow this game.
