DmC: Devil May Cry delayed into 2013

Capcom announced today that it's super-stylized reimagining of the Devil May Cry series, headed by Heavenly Sword developer Ninja Theory, will not be releasing in 2012 as originally planned.

Instead, DmC: Devil May Cry (a prequel to the current series) will be pushed back to January 15, 2013 when it will release on both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. They also took this opportunity to announce that there will be a PC version available "later in 2013." 

This will no doubt be a bittersweet announcement for the series' fans who vocally came out against the series' new direction when it was first announced. On one hand, there's no Devil May Cry for 2012, but on the other hand it will be a higher-quality title when it finally does release in 2013. It will be the first installment in the series since January 2008's Devil May Cry 4.

    Wow, seems like everything is getting delay announcements recently. Except the new Call of Duty of course. Not even the Mayan Apocalypse could come between Activision and their money. As long as it makes for a better game though, I'm all for it.

    Haha. This is really turning into a running joke. There will probably end up being no games released in the second half of this year as they will all be pushed back to next year.

    I think all these games being delayed into next year, all but confirms that GTA 5 is coming out in the Fall

    It's actually a reboot, not a prequel. :) Either way, news of it coming to PC will please a lot of people.

    ...What. Okay, Bioshock, I understand, but why are all these other games being pushed back so late? specially since dmc actually looked almost finished! Well, fine, if it makes it so the game's actually better, then so be it.

    honestly I cant tell what they hell it is, if it is a re-boot thats all and well, but in an interview they said it was a prequel O.o I guess the best way to look at it is that its just a "game" and thats it

    Considering many of us now believe that it is set in a parallel universe, I think the whole 'prequel' idea has been debunked. I would like to see the comeback of the proper dante, though.

    At this rate there won't be any games worth getting this year. Seriously, WTF? Is everyone making sure the apocalypse doesn't happen so our gaming isn't interrupted by doom, or was everyone just overconfident in their ability to deliver their next big game on time?

    I dont mind so much for this. At least Ninja Theory, I can see the extra time being put to good use to make sure the game is as good as they can get.

    For everyone wondering why this was pushed back to next year, think for a second: Resident Evil 6 is also coming out in October amongst a bunch of other high-profile games. By pushing DMC back to 2013, they're giving more breathing room to both this and Resi 6. It's only common sense, and at the same time, they'll be able to polish DMC so it's as good as it can get for it's release.

    I cannot shake the feeling that at least some of these games delayed until 2013 are going to be timed WiiU exclusives in 2012.

    I get your point, but personally, I'm a little happy. I barely have any money at the minute D: And after the Christmas season, I'll probably come into a fair amount more. Q4 (as far as I'm aware, anyway) Still has Borderlands 2 and, hopefully, Metal Gear Rising, which is more than enough to tide me over for those 3 or 4 months. Especially since I don't want BioShock Infinite.

    Well, yeah, but I mean, this also means that the further back it's pushed, the more likely it's to clash with whatever upcoming games will be announced later. I mean, this year is being spread a bit too thin, and the way this is going, I worry that 2013 will become the next 2011, and last year was fucking nuts, lot of good games I had to pass out on because there were just too many and not enough money.
