Castle of Illusion and World of Illusion: Sega Saturdays

Sega has been out of the actual console-making game for over a decade now, but we still love it. That's why we've created a weekly video series entirely dedicated to the games we played and loved when we were growing up (and still play to this day). Now, this isn't just a straight 'Let's Play' video, with members of the team talking over the top of gameplay footage. No, sir. It's packed full of regular features, hard facts, totally inappropriate stories... there's even a beautiful haiku in there. Plus, all the footage is actually captured from a real life Sega Mega Drive (which is the same as a Genesis if you're American), so it's all original. This week: Castle of Illusion and World of Illusion!

And I am talking about the music rather than the samples...Thunder Force IV voices are a bit weak. But there are good sample examples on the old MD as well.

In the last 12 months I have completed Castle of Illusion (both Master System and Mega Drive), World of Illusion and Land of Illusion. So as you can imagine I loved this Sega Saturday. Pure nostalgia fest for both the early teen me and the thirty something me. I so take issue at the “crap Mega Drive sound chip” as if you knew what you were doing, the sound could be excellent. Reference Thunder Force IV, Streets of Rage 2, Battle Mania 2, Story of Thor, Musha etc... And I like the soundtrack to World of Illusion. Keep them coming!
