Car Pass DLC announced for Forza 5

Turn 10 Studios has announced plans to release six post-launch DLC car packs for Xbox One racer Forza Motorsport 5. The studio said in a blog post that the add-on packs can be purchased in advance of the game’s release with the Forza 5 Car Pass, offering buyers all of the content at a discounted price.

All of the new cars will offer the same Forzavista features as the game’s base vehicles, enabling users to check out their interior, learn about their history and performance stats, and customise them to their liking. Pricing details weren’t announced, although we should find out soon enough given that Forza 5 is set for release on November 22 as one of the confirmed Xbox One launch titles.

Alongside the standalone game, publisher Microsoft is selling two Forza 5 special editions, each offering a range of DLC, from car packs to increased reward acceleration and access to exclusive multiplayer events. I must admit, it's a little weird to hear about dlc plans for a game on a console that hasn't been released yet.

You can blame modern game marketing tactics for that along with the game being pushed to meet the tight deadline of Xbox One's launch. Still though the Forza games are generally excellent and the DLC tends to just be cars that weren't released at the time the game came out meaning that there was no way for them to get the vehicle as a full reference to simulate it in the game and cars that didn't make it into development. In a game with hundreds of fully customisable vehicles it's only a tiny amount of content by comparison. I am by no means advocating the practice and I wish companies weren't forced to resort to this due to time constraints and executive meddling but there's much worse examples of pre-launch DLC out there.
