Bungie reveals Halo: Reach's Armory

Shares

Bungie's weekly update has revealed the Halo: Reach Armory, which is where players can customize their (you guessed it) armor. Unlike Halo 3, which used 'Skill,' new equipment in Halo: Reach will be purchased through 'Credits.' The following image contains "every item that is visible to players in the Armory on Day 1."

Above: Stuff!

"As you Rank up in Reach – via Credit earn, not via Skill a la Halo 3 – there will be more customization options made available to you. Many of these aren’t even visible initially, but you’ll be able to see them as you progress," Luke Smith explains. "Last Spring’s Halo: Reach Beta had the prices of helmets increase as you acquired more variants. In many cases, in the shipping game, the reverse is true – the initial Credit investment is in the base helmet, and adding augmentations to it is cheaper than the actual base variant was."

Bungie's post also contains fan questions answered by Campaign Design Lead Chris Opdahl, a few more achievements, and some other nice tidbits, like these nifty avatar unlocks:

Above: Their tiny necks look like they're going to snap under the weight, but still, they're pretty stylish

Halo: Reach is out September 14th, and it sure is looking customizable... among other things. Check out our latest preview for more!

Ya i have played timesplitters and i liked it, it was very clever and fun but i also like halo they are different styles and are bot fun. @ #4: i agree douches who do that are gay and are also called campers but every one isnt like that 5: to drop the sheilds and place precise rounds into the head does require skill; if it was easy, itd be boreing

Why hasnt anybody mentioned that Buck, SGT Johnson, Cortana for christ's sake and the friggin' Master Chief are in the bottom right corner?!?! It would be cool to see them online but they are most likely just gunna be Firefight exclusives.

@Bellakazza lets begin with me saying this bullet point system is very effective 1.fair opinion 2.its not really scientific and for most it hasnt been their last shooter but they still play iit 3.Im guessing u didnt play the game when it first came out because when it did it was groundbreaking. with each game it has evolved and to some extent gotten "better" i still believe they are all equally great and that they have changed the way we play games 4. I will say again that the skill comes from where everyone is equipped with the same handful of weapons and you are forced to become better with them too be able to defeat your opponents: scenario- two people with a battle rifle are coming towards eachother the one who is able to put 4 rounds in his opponents head first is the victor, so u are forced to become an accurate marksman to be successful 5. you said: "No Requirments either, You can be 6 and be killing everyone." im positive that the six year old could play for example timesplitters and kill people there is no requirements for any game 6. I do love halo. to me and many others it is great and when someone enjoys telling me what i love sucks, i tend to not respond well, as do the others who "attack" you; just think of it like this: u are also in a transitive way attacking them

@bellaKazza 1. so the answer to the first question was that you like being a dick 2.That 90% is ure bs assumption ive played a lot and i enjoy halo 3. ure prof says u have played the first halo and thats it soo u wouldnt know and u havent read it so again you still wouldnt know 4. I proved to u how it does have skill and your response was; well... no it doesnt= weaksauce 5. Im pretty sure everyone can play any game so wat does that even mean 6. And u hate halo because u like other games... ok that makes no sense

@BellaKazza I dont understand people like you. why do you care enough to ruin other peoples excitement towards an obviously good game. Millions love it, few dont, its facts, and you are in the minority. I have played Timesplitters and it was good but so is halo and gears. Three good shooter that are all different. The story is vast and amazing try reading the books they are damn close to perfect literature. You say that halo is too simple but that is the beauty of it. You are given simple tools and you have to beat ure opponent who is equipped with the same tools. Its all about skill, timesplitters was more variety, just different gameplay. so why do u hate

i don't know why some people hve a problem with halo, yes, the environment is scifi, but it's a game for goodness sake, it's supposed to be outthere. and yes, halo is more or less shoot everything, but that's only been 3 games, meanwhile i've been rescuing zelda from ganon for about 20 years real original story there. and finally, shields, in the regard to recovery i think that makes halo the most realistic, halo: didn't i just shoot you in the leg? yes, but my energy shield absorbed the damage, and now it's recharged. MW2(sorry): didn't i just shoot you shin with a 50 cal.? what happened to what should be a bloody stump? umm.. i walked it off

@bellaKazza of course here comes this shit again. ive played other fps, as a matter of fact ive played metroid prime (most of the metroid series too, i love metroid. worried about other m at the moment- never mind) fear, cod, fallout, l4d, and many others. all enjoyable games for the most part, but halo is still the best multiplayer experiance.

@eultima u mean im not th only person on this sight who enjoy's halo , is sick of halo hate, and remembers prototype (reference to his avatar for those who dont know)?

@Limbo :- thank for the info. Often my internet connection goes down and I would really appreciate if Bungie implements the credit system in offline mode also.
  • WickedSid - July 20, 2010 12:58 p.m.

BellaKazza is obviously db1331's new profile because he/she is mad about being called annoying during the last TalkRadar. P.S. Electric Helmets, Oh my.
  • FunkSoulBrother - July 20, 2010 11:37 a.m.

    I like the new armor.
  • Limbo - July 20, 2010 8:44 a.m.

Sorry for the double post, but what the hell is with the people at the bottom? Firefight characters perhaps?
  • Limbo - July 20, 2010 8:41 a.m.

BellaKazza, about half of the comments are directed towards hating you. Feel the burn. @firehawk420: I doubt that you'll be able to earn credit in split screen, but there's guaranteed to be campaign armor unlocks at least. I guess its possible that Bungie might make a split credit system between online and off, somewhat like in MW2.
  • BlackElement17 - July 20, 2010 7:30 a.m.

    That's a lot of stuff.
  • firehawk420 - July 20, 2010 7:12 a.m.

I am not sure whether it is reported here or not. But my brother and I really love to play this game's multiplayer mode offline with two other friends. Does the credit system work offline ? Can any please answer me it will be much appreciated.
  • Cwf2008 - July 20, 2010 4:04 a.m.

@BellaKazza...your right. Oddly this game looks interesting though...we'll see after Fallout comes out whether its worth getting though. Too bad it comes out afterwards :(
  • Calvarok - July 20, 2010 3:50 a.m.

Already this is more stuff than you could have at max rank in Halo 3. Also, why will people always think it matters if a franchise is popular or not? Buy it if you like it, and leave the people that do a lone if you don't.
  • Eultima - July 20, 2010 2:16 a.m.

@BellaKazza /beginrant (I loved halo, but not a fan) First of all, i do agree that the story is jumbled and scattered to points of confusion. but looking at your profile pic IMMEDIATELY says your a Nintendo fan/ Zelda fan. And observing that, comparing this to Zelda, that story is all over the f******g place. So at least you can follow this to some degree. (you dont have to like it but be mindful of it) 2) Suckish multiplayer? tell that to the millions of people who play it each day. Quick servers, simple game objectives, and customizable armor, Rank system make for addicting play. 3)Shorter than midget heroes........no comment 4)Stupid enemies? In terms of design? Or A.I. programming? Be more specific dumbass. The difficulties in each enemy are programmed well (with the exception of legendary. *shudder*) 5)unimaginative vehicles and weapons? to some point almost all weapons and techniques originated somewhere, but its definetly not generic. 6)Horrible environments. Your blind. That's fanboy hate i sense. nuff said. 7)The combat is simple and sophisticated enough to be challenging and engaging, E.g. BxR, sword duels, sniper fights, plasma pistol rounds etc. And to make a point here, looking at your profile u have only played the first Halo. Therefore your a moron to critique something you've yet to play or even know much about. Since your primary genre is Adventure you SUCK at FPSes and have no say in any of this. I dont mind SMART criticism, but ignorant statements like that make you look like a tool. /endrant :) 7)
