Bioshock Infinite's rumored multiplayer modes rumored to be cancelled

This is a rumor

According tofresh rumors, Bioshock Infinite may be losing two multiplayer modes that were only rumored to begin with. We still didn't have confirmation from Irrational Games on the initial rumors that Infinite would include new multiplayer modes, but now new sources are saying two of those modes have been dropped.

The rumors come from sources speaking to Kotaku amid a flurry of news surrounding Irrational Games stemming from recent departures of several key high-ranking staff members. The cut modes are said to have been a tower defense-style game, and a co-op campaign inspired by the main game. No details were given on why they ended up being cut.

However, this is all very reminiscent of comments that Ken Levine made back in 2010 concerning multiplayer in Bioshock Infinite. “I will say that we experiment with things,” Levine stated, “but for us we are never interested in making a multiplayer mode you could just play in some other game.” Could it be that the original sources mistook multiplayer "experiments" with confirmed projects?

It is currently unclear whether there will be multiplayer in Bioshock Infinite, and it's not 100% certain that there ever were any official plans.
