Biggest gaming petition ever on Change.org asks for GTA 5 on PC

The biggest gaming-related petition ever hosted on Change.org has more than 460,000 signatures pleading for GTA 5 on PC. The petition by Mike Julliard of Toronto, Canada, is the tenth largest global campaign on Change.org ever, a site representative told us, and it's pulled in more than 40,000 signatures since the game launched on PS3 and Xbox 360 on Tuesday.

Rockstar has said only that additional platforms--PC, next-gen, or otherwise--are "up for consideration."

"GTA games have been a large part of so many people's lives and it's a big shame not seeing the newest iteration of the game being released on the most powerful platform," the petition reads. "Things like modifications have always been a HUGE part of PC gaming and modded GTA is some of the most insanely fun times you can have."

History dictates that a PC release for GTA 5 is more or less inevitable, not to mention the future of GTA Online, but perhaps this show of support will move up Rockstar's notoriously lengthy announcement/release timetable.

I'd like to play it one day, just as long as they make it look a helluva lot nicer than what I've seen so far.

Let's just be happy it will come out before episode 3 comes.

It is coming to PC. GTA5 was leaked by Nvidia already. http://www.pcgamer.com/2013/08/13/gta-5-pc-release-date-hinted-at-by-nvidia-director/

Next thing you know we'll see a petition for Battlefield 5 to be made.....

Yes, every single main GTA has seen a release to the PC, but when did GTA 4 come out? And what were the two games they released in the meantime? Red Dead and LA Noire. One didn't get a PC port, the other got a rather average PC port. Rockstar considers piracy to be an incredible problem, and when they DO release a PC port, it's drowning underneath it's DRM if past experience is to be considered.

I had LA Noire for PC and never really had a problem with it. It didn't seem restrictive or DRM-heavy, but I'm not saying my experience was the same as everyone else.

Kinda pointless, a PC release is pretty much guaranteed because every other main installment has made it to PC. I'm sure it's just being delayed for PC just like previous GTA games. There's no need for this petition, Rockstar are fully aware that PC gamers want to play GTA V. At the end of the day Rockstar are going to do whatever they plan, a petition is going to have very little affect.

Wow, people are actually concerned about this? There hasn't been a GTA game yet that wasn't released on PC. The game was made for consoles and has to be ported, that's gonna take some time. Besides, you'd think they would have learned to WANT Rockstar to take their time with this considering how poorly optimized the PC version of GTA IV was when it released. People truly have no patience anymore nowadays.
  • Shnubby - September 19, 2013 11:45 a.m.

Yeah, as soon as GTA V was announced I assumed it would come out later on PC than it's console counterpart. It takes time to improve a game for optimal performance on a PC and it's ridiculous for people to start complaining and getting impatient only 2 days after the release of the console versions.
  • bbq4tw - September 19, 2013 3:48 p.m.

Patience huh! The series began on the PC. Why is it Bethesda can release Skyrim across all 3 major platforms at the same time but Rockstar gets a pass because PC gamers "need to have more patience"?
  • brickman409 - September 20, 2013 10:41 a.m.

Because rockstar cares more for console gamers than PC gamers. But who knows, maybe they're delaying it because they're adding a whole bunch of features that the console versions don't have.
  • wiitard07 - September 19, 2013 11:11 a.m.

Let them wait. You don't see console gamers bitching and petitioning for star craft, diablo the witcher etc. and we got diablo and witcher by just being patient.

Console gamers are quite well known for complaining as well. The petition is quite light hearted, and I'm sure that most of the people singing it know it will come out, but this might just make Rockstar confirm a PC version. The goal is to show just how much interest there is in the PC release. Honestly, it is a shame Rockstar didn't release simultaneously on the 3 major platforms. However, if GTA IV is an indication of what a GTA V release on PC might be, then it is worth the wait. GTA IV on PC was pretty much the definitive version of the game.

Gamers are a bitchy bunch in general, period :P
  • Bloodstorm - September 19, 2013 1:28 p.m.

    very true
  • Bloodstorm - September 19, 2013 11:27 a.m.

That said, I still think the petition is a waste of time.
  • Bloodstorm - September 19, 2013 11:09 a.m.

What a waste of time. Why wouldn't it come to PC? Have to remember that GTA IV came to PC 8 months after it's console release. It's going to take time, but I really doubt it doesn't get released on PC, and next gen consoles for that matter.
  • LoboMau - September 19, 2013 11:02 a.m.

I own a gaming pc that can easily run all the current games on their highest settings, but I always find myself playing more on consoles than on my pc, even the non-exclusive games. Sure the graphics would be better on my pc and the modding communities always improve the games even further, however I hate the pc elitists so much that I hope this GTA doesn't appear anytime soon. Let them suffer. I bet they wouldn't be so arrogant if they also had any consoles in their homes.
  • Bloodstorm - September 19, 2013 11:14 a.m.

Seriously, get over yourself. It's freaking stupid to wish that another group of gamers can't have something just because you don't like a certain subset of people. You are the type of gamer that makes gamers look bad.
  • LoboMau - September 19, 2013 5:18 p.m.

I'm pretty sure that "I hope this GTA doesn't appear anytime soon" is not the same as wishing for the game to never be released. So, they will eventually have a go at it, just not right now. Doubt it, I'm quite handsome!
