Oh, John Marston is the Mac Daddy of characters in a game
  • xblue878x - June 22, 2014 9:12 a.m.

Would have loved to see the Grunts from Halo, Master Chief, Johnson from Halo. Alot of good characters, funny as hell but I suppose it would pertain to the question. As mentioned above, the different gen of consoles

Gamesradar might want to read their red dead review, where they compared Marston to a piece of paper saying he's one dimensional......

How is it that Bioshock Infinite's Elizabeth was not on here?
  • usmovers_02 - June 22, 2014 11:30 a.m.

Wait wait wait... half the bioshock crew made the list but NOT Elizabeth?!? She's arguably the best character in the entire series! That's gotta be a simple oversight on their part.
  • ThomasCradden - April 27, 2014 1:34 p.m.

This list is seriously lacking some really good characters, namely Max Payne, Cole Phelps, Niko Bellic, Vito Scaletta, Kane and Lynch
  • usmovers_02 - June 22, 2014 11:30 a.m.

Max Payne is from the gen before last. Niko isn't bad but he's not great either.

So no Trevor (gta5), no Dovakiin? No minecraft Steve??? What is going on GR staff??
  • usmovers_02 - June 22, 2014 11:30 a.m.

    The Dovakiin isn't a character.

I think that John Marston is the best character from last generation. He was serious, but he still knew how to joke and have fun. He was also the best Rockstar character because there was less of a disconnect between his actions and attitude. Plus, he was a badass cowboy.

I gotta say, CL4P-TP gets REALLY old REALLY quick and REALLY annoying after more than 5 minutes of exposure... I wouldn't put him on there. He was great through most of the first Borderlands but.... as a character he lost his luster.
  • JohnNewby - April 26, 2014 8:32 p.m.

I completely agree. I loved the different Claptrap models in the first Borderlands, but I hated him in Borderlands 2. My wife and I are replaying the first Borderlands for the 6th time, and that little bastard is just as charming as he was the first time.
  • RyanGreen - March 19, 2014 4:55 a.m.

Okay so first, No Max Payne is a travesty. Second, love how you guys put John Marston Fifth, when if you quickly read your review.... Way to know your own content.
  • mike-hughey - April 26, 2014 4:08 p.m.

Max Payne first showed up on the PS2 and original Xbox. This list is about characters that debuted during the last console generation, i.e, PS3 and Xbox 360 (and Wii).
  • JohnNewby - April 26, 2014 8:39 p.m.

That review was written by a different staff with different opinions.
  • KNITEpanda - March 18, 2014 7:14 p.m.

How is Master Chief or even Cortana on here? Even Tiny Tina being rated soooo low was absolutely pathetic. Fail list is fail.
  • Rakarth - April 10, 2014 4:21 a.m.

I agree, Tiny Tina to this day remains one of my most favorite characters, because honestly.... When do you see crazy teenagers make bombs, blow things up, and go crazy?
  • mike-hughey - April 26, 2014 4:14 p.m.

Fail reader who doesn't understand the premise of the article is fail -- Master Chief and Cortana debuted on the original Xbox. This list is about characters who first appeared during the console generation after that -- the 360/PS3/Wii one.
  • Zking75 - March 12, 2014 6:59 p.m.

How in the name of Talos did Max Payne not get on here? He is the best written character of the generation, yet you put friggin' meat boy in your list?
  • usmovers_02 - June 22, 2014 11:32 a.m.

Dude... read the name of the article again...
