During the Wii U Preview Event, Nintendo announced that Bayonetta 2, the follow-up to the action-packed shooter from Platinum Games, will be published by Nintendo exclusively for the Wii U. You favorite gun-booted, bullet-blasting witch is officially back for round two.
Though the announcement trailer didn't show anything in the way of gameplay, the fact that Platinum will be developing Bayonetta 2 as a Wii U exclusive says a lot about the upcoming console's processing power, in terms of competing with or surpassing the Xbox 360 and PS3. What we did see in the trailer was a hail of bullets, fired no doubt by Bayonetta herself, being deflected by a deft swordsman. Bayonetta's boots stomped in front of the camera, revealing that her iconic red guns-heels are now blue in the sequel.
For those wondering if the gameplay will be up to the first game's standards, fear not: Bayonetta 2 is being worked on by director Yusuke Hashimoto, who helmed the first Bayonetta as director and is famed for his work as the director on the original Devil May Cry, Viewtiful Joe, and Okami games while at Capcom. He'll be joined by producer Atsushi Inaba, former CEO of Clover Studio, who gained renown for working on such titles as Viewtiful Joe, Okami, and the criminally under-appreciated God Hand.
Nintendo wasn't ready to show off gameplay just yet, but check back at GamesRadar.com to hear about the details of Bayonetta 2 as soon as we do.
