I think RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 should have been there instead of Theme Park TBH
  • awesomesauce - February 19, 2014 2:45 p.m.

Figured I'd see Harvest Moon here but these are still pretty good

Either he's relevant to the article considering he's a CEO or that Iwata tag is another one of your sneaky shove ins :P

    You're only scratching the surface...
  • g1rldraco7 - February 18, 2014 8:25 p.m.

I remember that paperboy game. that was a hard game and stupid I mean can you stop a bank robber by throwing a newspaper at him or stopping a baby stroller rolling down the hill?

Not sure where you got your information on tipping bartenders in the US. Pretty much all bartenders have a tip jar (not just for classy establishments), and make decent money. I'm sure the U.K. is different since they don't have the tipping tradition as we do here in the States.
  • brickman409 - February 18, 2014 9:20 p.m.

Yeah even those beer carts at stadiums make tips. I worked at one of those one time, it was kind of cool actually.
  • Ketherx - February 18, 2014 9:54 p.m.

I bet. I kinda want to be a bartender. It seems like it would be a very interesting, but demanding job.
  • mafyooz - February 19, 2014 12:31 a.m.

Maybe things are different in the US but I've done plenty of barwork here in the UK when I was a student and it's really not that interesting. Depending on the kind of place you work you either can't hear anything over the music, or you don't want to because people talk absolute crap after a few beers. You might get a few drinks bought for you or the odd phone number from a particularly flirty girl but generally you just end up tired and covered in booze. And you don't even want to know about the horrors you see if pull the short straw and have to give the toilets a clean down, the women's especially are hell-holes....
  • GR_AndyHartup - February 19, 2014 12:07 a.m.

Yeah, no tips (generally) for barmen in the UK. Didn't know bar-tipping was so widespread in the US. I tip bartenders when I remember (in the US) but sometimes I forget. The culture is very different...

I'm surprised you don't have Mario on this list. Seriously, plumbing has got to be one of the worst jobs ever, and it's one of the greatest games ever. Others that come to mind: --Wrecking Crew --Space Quest... c'mon how did you guys miss this one--Janitor on board a space ship. --Planetfall (basically same thing as Space Quest, you are the janitor) --Trailer Park Tycoon... At least several notches below Sim City on the worst job scale --Burger Time ...anything worse than the job of flipping burgers? --Minecraft ... mining is a seriously awful job. Try getting trapped in a mine and tell me that's not one of the worst jobs in the world. Seriously how did you miss this one too? Don't get me wrong...good article. Loved the ones you listed, just facepalm on some of the ones you overlooked.
  • GR_AndyHartup - February 19, 2014 12:09 a.m.

Thanks. I tried to keep this to games where you actually do the job. Mario may be a plumber but he rarely (if ever) does any recognisable plumbing... Minecraft (or maybe Manic Miner) would have been a great one, though...

My dad's been a trucker for years and loves it :P

    Eurotruck Simulator 2
  • pl4y4h - February 18, 2014 2:09 p.m.

The nostalgia definitely hit me with the trucker game. I remember playing it in arcades a long time ago.

I kind of feel the Ace Attorney games need a mention... I don't think there's enough magic bracelets and spirit channeling in reality's legal system.
  • Ketherx - February 18, 2014 9:53 p.m.

I love these games so much. I need to get a 2/3DS just for Dual Destinies and the upcoming Phoenix Wright vs Professor Layton.
  • BladedFalcon - February 18, 2014 11:18 a.m.

...18 Wheeler Pro Trucker is considered to be a genuinely great game? Huh.
  • Ketherx - February 18, 2014 7:34 p.m.

I would say it's Crazy Taxi: Trucker Edition. I wouldn't say it's a great game, but it's fun (especially in the arcade).
  • BladedFalcon - February 18, 2014 8:13 p.m.

See, that's what astounds me.I would have never expected a game with that name and based on 18 wheeler trucks to be "fun", much less good XD Color me impressed!
