War Front strategy guide - German campaign

At your main base, use the Engineers the Command Center produced to build a Radar Facility and Tank Factory, then order them to erect six or seven AA Bunkers: Russian bombers will be attempting to drop their payloads on your handiwork on a regular basis until you destroy the airfields. The Tank Factory can be used to crank out armored units — primarily Panthers and Wurfrahmen at first — to support Hellmann’s advance to the mine at the southwest corner of the map, and completion of the Radar Facility allows you to upgrade your Command Center to Tech Level 2. When you reach that level, your Tank Factories will be able to produce more powerful Tiger tanks. You’ll also be able to build airfields to produce Me 262 Interceptors. While these aren’t necessary to win the mission, they can come in handy in zooming to trouble spots — but they’re also extremely vulnerable to anti-aircraft fire from Russian bunkers and ZSU 37 AA vehicles.

In the south, order the Engineer that built the Supply Depot for the southwest mine to construct a Tank Factory. Use it to produce mainly Wurfrahmen and Panthers (switch to Tigers as soon as you can!), along with a few Wirbelwinds in case the Russians send fighters to strafe your units or Tupolev Bombers to smash your buildings. Even if this force grows very large, keep it in place near the oil rigs: the Soviet force in the south is much more massive than in the north. Provoking a response from them at this time could wind up costing you not only your buildings and units, but also the resources you need to prosecute the war.

About now, you should check the countdown timer in the upper-right corner of the screen. Once you see it reach three minutes, you should focus all your attention on producing as many of those tanks (preferably Tiers) as possible — all the way up to the army limit. The reinforcements are likely to push you over the army limit anyway, so you might as well go over it as much as you possibly can!

With the arrival of the reinforcement army — which includes a Giant Zeppelin and two Maus super-heavy tanks, which in real life were the heaviest working prototype tanks developed by any nation — you can begin you systematic destruction of the Russian forces and the completion of your objectives.

As Hellmann holds his position at the oil rigs to the south, assemble all the armored units now stationed in and around the northern part of your main base and begin advancing eastward. You should position the units so that the Maus tanks lead the way, flanked and backed by Tiger and Panther tanks. Behind them should be a couple of Repair Trucks, to keep these heavy hitters in the battle, followed by Wurfrahmen and finally two or three Wirbelwinds. To keep all these units in this order, double-click where you want them to go and they will all travel at the same speed. You can send the Giant Zeppelin to the northern edge of the map to eliminate AT bunkers as your now-huge ground army rolls toward the oil rigs and mines that are indicated as objectives on the map.

When you receive the message about the strange explosions, simply send a few units to one of the spots indicated on the map. Upon arrival you’ll discover the Soviets have apparently developed some type of weapon that generates intense cold, capable of freezing men and even armored units in their tracks. (Fortunately, you won’t have to deal with it in this battle: you’ll have to play full version of the game to see it at work!)

Use the long-range bombardment capability of the Wurfrahmen to destroy the Russian AT Cannon that threaten your ground forces as you move toward the mine in the middle of the map. Keep in mind you can always retreat back to the base and produce more Tigers and other replacement units if you suffer significant losses, but the destruction of both the mine and the oil rigs far to the east should pose little or no problem. If you should encounter problems, the Airfields you’ve constructed will allow you to repay the Russkies for their bombing raids: send a The main thing to remember is to keep the two Maus tanks safe. In the Campaign game, you can designate these steel mammoths as “Core Units” that will accompany Hellmann into the next battle.

With the center and northeast corner of the map cleared out, order Hellmann’s army to advance east and then north, parallel to the deep trench that fronts the Russian MG, AT, and AA bunkers. Simultaneously, order the army group that destroyed the oil rig and mine to join up with Hellmann. Together, you should significantly outnumber the Russians and quickly destroy the Airfield in the lower middle of the map.
