Microsoft could be set to launch Xbox Music alongside Windows 8 on October 26. The Verge cites multiple sources familiar with Microsoft's plans with the new service, which will appear on Windows Phone, Windows 8, and Xbox 360.
The service will operate similarly to the current Zune Music Pass and Spotify, with both subscriptions and free ad-supported listening. Zune subscribers will find all of their content and subscriptions transferred to the new service, according to its FAQ. Users will also be able to store music and playlists in Microsoft SkyDrives, allowing easy access between supported devices.
iOS and Android apps are also planned for Xbox Music, but will not be immediately available. An Xbox dashboard update is planned around the launch of the service to add support for the console, the sources said.
