The two-part movie adaptation of Stephen King's It is finally in production, according to some new images shared on Instagram by director Andy Muschietti. Years have passed since the film version of the novel (and later TV mini-series) was first announced, and it looks like its days in development hell are finally done. Now it's off to the less-boring but way-more-terrifying hell of sewer clowns.
Muschietti, who is best known for directing and writing 2013 horror film Mama, shared these pictures of a very official looking director's chair with the caption "Day one" and some familiar red balloons. Don't stick around to count them, no matter what Nina Hagen tells you.
The first film, which will follow the Losers' Club childhood encounters with Pennywise, is set to hit theaters on September 8, 2017. Their final battle with the horrid entity as adults will be released as a second movie that doesn't have a release date yet.
