Honestly, this scares me a little: a browser based NES emulator that somehow magically makes old Nintendo ROMs playable in 3D (via PC Gamer).
Currently, the emulator, which is the work of Vietnamese coder Trần Vũ Trúc, only works in Firefox but apparently will load up any old ROMs you have lying around (that you definitely paid for, right?!). This browser-based version is still in beta but a standalone executable is also on the way.
The popular theory for how it works seem to be that it's extrapolating the layers used in the original 2D code (used to create parallax effects and so on) to position objects in three dimensional space. The sprites are then being repeatedly drawn into the third dimension to make them appear solid. I'm not sure. I still think we should burn it just to be safe.
