Sam Claflin and Riz Ahmed in talks for Star Wars: Rogue One

The first Star Wars standalone movie may have found two members of its resistance, with The Wrap and Badass Digest both reporting that Sam Claflin and Riz Ahmed are in the running for Star Wars: Rogue One. If they sign on, they will form part of a large ensemble led by Felicity Jones’ rebel fighter.

The pair now join Ben Mendelsohn on a rumored list of actors being eyed to appear in the first Star Wars spinoff under the new Anthology banner. Alongside Josh Trank’s as-yet unnamed entry, the Anthology titles are poised to bridge the gaps between pre-existing movies in the Star Wars universe.

Last weekend’s Star Wars Celebration event paved the way for Rogue One director Gareth Edwards to debut the first artwork from the film in a brief teaser and shed light on its style and tone. Unlike earlier outings in the canon, Rogue One will focus on non-Jedi characters without magical powers and follow a band of resistance fighters who vow to steal plans for the Death Star.

Star Wars: Rogue One opens on December 16, 2016.
