Resident Evil 6 release date moved up a month to October

You may have noticed an explosion of exciting Capcom news this morning, including new details for the zomberific sequel Resident Evil 6. You can read all about it in our newest preview (Resident Evil 6 preview - RE-boot 2.0?), but one of the most interesting new bits of information on the game came at the end of its newest trailer. Watch and see if you notice:

For those of you that abstained from watching that sweet trailer for some reason, here's the big reveal:

Yes, Resident Evil 6, once planned for a US release on November 20 of this year, now comes out seven weeks earlier on October 2. In this age when publishers are illusive on committing to what year an upcoming game will come out and many releases are plagued by delays, this is a refreshing change. Capcom must be pretty damn confident about the status of RE6 to push it out so early in the fall schedule.

However, it's worth noting that Resident Evil 6 now joins a particularly crowded October. Already the month features huge titles like BioShock Infinite and Assassin's Creed III, which makes us wonder why these companies are avoiding the traditionally bigger month of November. Are they afraid of competing with the next Call of Duty, or perhaps Halo 4? Do they think they'll be overshadowed by the possible launch of Wii U? Whatever the reason, October just got a lot more interesting.
