PlayStation VR coming in Fall says Gamestop boss

The last news from Sony regarding the release of PlayStation VR was just 'Q1' which we've all been assuming will be April to match up with the release of the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive headsets. However this might not the be the case if Gamestop's CEO Paul Raines is to be believed.

In a financial discussion with Fox Business Raines said "Virtual Reality is on it's way... We'll be launching the Sony product this fall, and we're in discussions with the other two players." That definitively doesn't sound anything like April. The CEO of one of the biggest game retailers in the world might just have the inside scoop.

Reassuringly, what we do know is that Sony is taking the platform exceptionally seriously. More than 100 games currently in development for PlayStation VR. If a Fall/Autumn release date means waiting to launch the headset with more games, that's probably not a bad call. It would also potentially mean an advantage in terms of working out a sweet spot when it comes to pricing. Sony will want to make sure that the headset won't be leaving an Oculus Rift size $599 dent in your wallet. As ever, we'll keep you updated.
