Things are about to get competitive. In just one week, EA and DICE fire the first shot in their new war against Call of Duty with Battlefield 3, which is looking to match the FPS mega-franchise not just in terms of singleplayer content, but multiplayer as well. In this new trailer, DICE shows off some action-packed competitive matches across the game's many maps, including Back to Karkand, which is available for free to anyone that pre-ordered the game.
The new trailer leaves very little to the imagination. It demonstrates air battles with helicopters, sea battles with boats, land battles with tanks and soldiers, and every other kind of battle that could ever work its way into the battlefield. We think we saw some people jumping off of cliffs, too. Unless that shows up as a perk or Kill Streak reward, we have a feeling that's going to be a decidedly Battlefield inclusion in this year's clash of the FPS titans.
And, of course, there are the explosions. So. Many. Explosions. DICE has made it very clear how proud it is of its new engine, which makes blowing apart buildings commonplace. We're proud of their new engine, too, especially if it means we can take out our foes' cover by blowing up the world around them. Now, all that's left to do is wait for the full game while trying to get the game's theme song stuck out of our heads.
