Martin Freeman teases potential Sherlock special

While the recent series of Sherlock was roundly excellent, its three episode format meant it felt as though it was over before it had really begun.

With Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffat usually taking a couple of years between series, fans could be forgiven for despairing over the long wait, but according to Martin Freeman, there may be salvation in the form of a one-off special.

"Mark Gatiss may beat me up," says Freeman, "but there is an idea for this one-off special that’s such a good idea, and as I was listening to it, I thought, ‘We’ve just got to do this’."

"And I don’t know when we are going to be able to do it, unfortunately. It’s a fantastic, really mouth-watering idea, but I really don’t know when we are going to get to do it.”

With Freeman and Benedict Cumberbatch bigger and busier than they've ever been, it is understandable that scheduling might prove problematic, but we'll be keeping them crossed that they find a way. Holmes usually manages to defy the odds...
