The current explosion of superheroes on the big screen has given starring roles to geniuses in mechanical suits, Norse gods, talking raccoons and more, but it's yet to find a title role for a female hero. Wonder Woman's about to make her big screen debut, but it seems she'll be be a supporting player to the Man of Steel and the Caped Crusader in Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice , while Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow is a regular in the Marvel movies, but is yet to get top billing.
So isn't it about time Hollywood gave a female hero her own movie franchise? Why hasn't Wonder Woman, one of the crown jewels in the DC line-up, been given the same opportunities as Bats and Supes? Are Hollywood executives paranoid after the failures of Elektra and Catwoman ? Will Agent Carter on the small screen open doors for comic book characters on the big screen?
