Honey 2 review

The urban dance film genre is feeling pretty limp at the moment...

Step Up 3D and Streetdance might have been cornier than a wheatfield, but at least they pushed the urban dance film up a notch with their snazzy stereoscope.

Honey 2, in contrast, seems like a regression, not least because Jessica Alba had better things to do than reprise her role from Bille Woodruff’s 2004 hip-hopper.

Instead we get Vampire Diaries starlet Katerina Graham as a Bronx babe fresh out of juvie who leaves one crew to steer another to talent-show glory.

For all its killer choreography, alas, it’s clear this genre urgently needs some new moves of its own.
