Here's the most expensive Game of Thrones death and it *didn’t* involve dragons, armies, or Red Weddings…

Game of Thrones loves a good death, but what was the most expensive one to film? Oberyn’s death-by-gouging? Something to do with dragons? Or maybe Hodor’s d’aww door death? No, no and *sobs* no. It involves Thrones’ other eye-popping death (you know a show is good when it has more than one eyeball-related fatality).

As revealed by showrunner David Benioff at the SXSW Festival, it was Arya Stark’s slicing and dicing of Ser Meryn Trant, the second name scratched off of Arya’s list, that proved the most costly.

Why did it cost so much? Benioff revealed, “She couldn’t really poke out his eyes.” Ah, that’ll be why.

If you want to watch the full death scene in all of its murder-y glory then you can feast your eyes (maybe the wrong choice of words) on it below. It’s very NSFW…
