Eric Bana and Rebecca Hall are on the case

Despite its array of CCTV shots, Closed Circuit is not – as you would expect, given the title – a story hooked on the surveillance state, but rather the legal mission of lawyers Martin (Eric Bana) and Claudia (Rebecca Hall) to unravel a cover-up in the aftermath of a London terrorist attack.

Directed with efficient, although sometimes telly-tastic, restraint by John Crowley (the BAFTA-winning Boy A ), it’s a slow-burning, well-acted thriller that’s only really let down in its third act: an unsatisfyingly limp denouement that fails to convey what’s at stake with any sort of suspense.
