Classic Sonic the Hedgehog finally making its way to the PlayStation Store on March 1

If you're feeling all retro-ey, you can go back to the game that gave birth to a lovable blue hedgehog by downloading the classic Sonic the Hedgehog experience on Wii's Virtual Console or the Xbox Live Arcade. But those with a PS3 have had to wait patiently for their turn at reliving Green Hill Zone goodness. That wait will soon be over.

Here's the best part, though. If you're a PlayStation Plus subscriber, you'll get the game for free - no money at all to go back to the days before there was a two-tailed fox or a super spin, and just a red-sneakered spiny blue mammal on a quest for world peace.

Available March 1st, the PS3 version of Sonic the Hedgehog will feature trophies and HD graphics. This is part of an entire collection of Sega Genesis games coming to the PSN, all of which are going to be free exclusives to PlayStation Plus members - Streets of Rage 2, Golden Axe 2, and Altered Beast are among the other titles heading to PSN. These titles will be available about a month after Sonic the Hedgehog is released.

Other PlayStation Plus deals coming March 1st include a free download of the PSOne Classic Spyro: Year of the Dragon, as well as a trial of ModNation Racers.
