Channel 4 Commissions Black Mirror Series 2

Channel 4 has commissioned another three episodes of Charlie Brooker ’s dark anthology series Black Mirror , reports Broadcast .

Comparing Brooker to Dennis Potter and Chris Morris, C4 head of comedy Shane Allen praised the series’ “pioneering spirit” and “daring, complex, compelling originality”.

“British drama seems particularly obsessed with murder and the past, often together,” said Allen. “ Black Mirror is a rare modern look at where society and individuals could be headed, given the all-pervasive deluge of social media and technology.”

The first series prompted 322 complaints to Ofcom and C4 about the opening episode, which featured a storyline about a fictional Prime Minister being blackmailed into having sex with a pig.

Filming on the second series, made by Endemol-owned Zeppotron, will begin in August. Brooker is writing all three 60-minute episodes.
