Touch My Katamari intro video for PS Vita is lovably, predictably random

Coming to Sony’s new portable doesn’t seem to have changed the silly series

Namco Bandai has big plans for Sony’s next handheld. Not only will the PlayStation Vita have an appearance by Ridge Racer and the ninja-rific Shinobido 2, but it’ll also feature a new entry in the zany Katamari Damacy series. Though the controls for the game might be new, the franchise’s familiar irreverence is still there, as evidenced in this adorable new video for the Japanese release…

The trailer proves the series’ trademark eccentric music is back along with Katamari’s adoration for rainbows, and the King of All Cosmos is crazy as he ever was. What we didn’t see much was the game’s new touch controls that let you use the Vita’s back touchpad to change the size of the Katamari ball as needs demand. The game will be in stores February 22, except for Japan where it goes on sale December 17 along with the Vita system.
