From a new edition of Warhammer 40K to a fresh take on Kill Team, Warhammer Adepticon 2026 was utterly determined that we weren't gonna drift off and doomscroll during the show. It was more crowded than a cauldron full of grots.
If you've been kicking around the hobby a while, that might not come as a surprise. For fans of the grimdark future or a far-flung fantasy past, this show is like Christmas; it's the biggest treasure-chest of reveals we get each year. And this time, Warhammer Adepticon 2026 had plenty of presents to deliver. While the new Age of Sigmar "Cogfort" stole the show for me (it's a wonderfully daft combo of walking castle and tank), that's just one of many announcements jostling for attention… including the highly-anticipated 11th Edition of Warhammer 40K.
Want a quick rundown of what's coming our way? By the Emperor's will, it'll be done – I covered the event live, so here's everything you need to know.
Warhammer AdeptiCon 2026: Warhammer 40K
- 11th Edition out in June 2026
- Launch box features Orks vs. Space Marines
- New Armageddon campaign book also due
While there were other reveals for Warhammer's most popular game, there was one announcement stealing all the limelight – a brand-new Warhammer 40K 11th Edition, due to land in June 2026.
11th Edition
The rumors were true, it seems - the next version of the game is landing like a Space Marine drop pod in June 2026, and our first look at 11th Edition has been officially revealed. This is spearheaded by the "Armageddon" launch box, which features Blood Angels Space Marines vs Orks.
We still don't know loads about this revision despite it hitting shelves in a few months, but judging by the AdeptiCon show, it's all about streamlining what already works; this isn't a drastic overhaul like 10th Edition was. A lot of emphasis was placed on improving niggles from combat (you can't stack Stratagems any more, for example), and community feedback seems to have been taken on board. Those dull objective markers have been thoroughly jettisoned out the airlock, for instance, now being replaced by terrain features. The Warhammer team focused on making sure that every kind of match has a rich narrative, too, and we're also looking at greater flexibility for picking targets on a charge.
There's one more campaign book before 11th, and yes, the Steel Legion returns... but not for a while

Following some confusion after a new Yarrick model was unveiled last week, we now know that it was teeing up a final campaign book for the current edition - "Armageddon: The Return of Yarrick." This focuses on the events leading up to 11th Edition, introducing a host of new heroes from the Astra Millitarum as well as the Ork horde (hot rod-loving Wazdakka is back, baby). A bunch of Astra Millitarum vehicles are rolling in too.

However, something that rather overshadowed this news was the reveal that the fan-favorite Steel Legion (who are closely associated with Armageddon but aren't featured in the above campaign) are getting a revamp. We only saw concept art for this so it's clearly a ways out, but still. That's an exciting development, considering how long it's been since we last saw them.
Warhammer AdeptiCon 2026: Age of Sigmar
I'd expected a smaller showing for Warhammer's fantasy game this time around because we were only due a Cities of Sigmar update. Plus, Age of Sigmar is due its next edition in 2027, putting us in the calm before the storm.
Dear reader, I was wrong.
Cities of Sigmar gets a massive update

Holy moly, but there's a lot of cool stuff coming to the game's scrappy human faction. This is a massive enhancement to the current Cities of Sigmar range, with an elite ranged unit (the Freeguild Grenadiers) and a band of knightly warriors called the Freeguild Gallants. These are flanked by enormous Gate Gargants who provide a walking wall of iron and wood to shield their ranks, topped off by what is essentially a gun turret. Throw in new leaders like a trio of wizards, a Forgepriest that feels pulled straight from Old World, and named hero Jorvan Kreel, Heir of the Kraken for a very respectable offering.
Even these were dwarfed by the biggest and best reveal for Age of Sigmar, however – the Cogfort, named the most dangerous ranged war machine in the game by Warhammer. This thing is a walking fortress gun-emplacement, and it's utterly mad. I adore it already.
Skaven charge into new Spearhead supplement

It's only right that the great horde of ratmen dominate the final stretch of this edition, because they kicked things off with Skaventide. Now we're getting a revised Clan Eshin, complete with Night Runners and a named Deathmaster assassin. Considering how old the previous ones were, it's about time.
Many of these, and the Cities of Sigmar units, will be available for the first time in the new Spearhead supplement box, City of Ash. This takes place in Embergard, so features ruined buildings for a more urban setup.
Warhammer AdeptiCon 2026: Kill Team

- New box set pits Cadians against the Red Terror
- Focus on battling "Nemesis" monsters
- Blackstone Fortress foes being re-released for Nemesis
Gather the hounds and your finest bugles, because we're leaving the Necron Tomb Worlds behind and going hunting in Kill Team's next installment.
While the new, elite Cadian hunting unit was expected (something like this has been rumored for a while), the other half of the box wasn't – the Tyranid Red Terror, a monstrous xeno that's all claws and mandibles, is descending on our hapless squads to run amok.
This isn't the only creature we're going up against in the future, though. Warhammer is also re-releasing iconic boss monsters from Blackstone Fortress (a dungeon-crawler that takes its cues from the best board games) separately as part of its "Kill Team: Nemesis" range. That includes the Ambull, a huge xeno we last saw in Combat Arena, and the Zoat – a proper deep cut from the lore. In essence, you can go toe to toe with these guys or they can be a threat plonked in the middle of a head-to-head match for both players to deal with.
Warhammer AdeptiCon 2026: Horus Heresy

- Huge new Spartan Prometheus Assault Tank
- Ogryns and gun emplacements for Solar Auxilia
- Battle of Tallarn book on the way
40K's grungier, prequel-based sibling has been on a roll recently with a new edition (Saturnine) and the reintroduction of the impressive-looking Liber Custodes, and that trend continues with a refreshed Solar Auxilia range. While this isn't quite as sweeping a change as the Emperor's bodyguard, what we are receiving packs one hell of a punch. When you're fighting against Space Marines, I suppose that's needed.
Leading the charge are the Ogryns, who provide some much-needed muscle for close combat. They're joined by Rapier Fire gun emplacements, portable munitions that operate behind the front lines to rain fire from above.
This is all topped off by the titanic Spartan Prometheus Assault Tank and a new Journal Tactica that covers the Battle of Tallarn – a devastating armor-based engagement that carries a lot of meaning for fans.
Warhammer AdeptiCon 2026: Underworlds
- New Lumineth warband
- Will apparently shake up the meta
My colleagues and I had spent all week trying to wrap our heads around what a certain Sylvaneth/Lumineth-style banner meant based on the pre-show teaser, so it's a relief to find out at last that it's for a new Warhammer Underworlds warband.
This time it's the aelves taking their chances under the boughs of Spitewood – Thyrielle's Zephrites. These sneaky, bow-wielding Lumineth are led by a wind mage and their fox-like familiar, and they're described by Warhammer as "jacks of all trades" that should shake up the game's meta.
Warhammer AdeptiCon 2026: Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game

- New Riders of Rohan
- Fresh Command models for Rohan/Hill Tribes
What news from the Riddermark? It's all about Rohan and the surrounding area in this update for the Lord of the Rings system, and headlining things is the all-new Riders of Rohan kit. This revamps a 25 year-old kit for the modern day, and as someone who grew up with those original models, it's a gorgeous glow up.
These models are joined by Rohan Commanders and Hill Tribesmen Commanders, allowing you to lead your troops in either the War of the Ring era or the War of the Rohirrim time-period.
Warhammer AdeptiCon 2026: Merch

- Weta is releasing a Mephiston statue
- Wearable White Scars helmet inbound
In terms of merch announcements, it was a little thin on the ground... but considering how a merch-specific day of announcements took place a few weeks ago, that's not too surprising. This time around we got a massive, imposing Mephiston statue from Weta Workshop, so Blood Angels fans should start making space.
We're also getting another wearable Space Marine helmet, this time themed around the White Scars.
