Roberto Orci and William Shatner respond to Star Trek 3 rumours

Roberto Orci and William Shatner have both been moved to comment on the recent rumour that Shatner and Leonard Nimoy could appear in Star Trek 3 , with neither man willing to confirm or deny…

“Not in my interest to confirm or deny anything because it limits my options while maintaining my integrity as a truth teller,” said Orci in response to the rumours.

“The movie is not the movie till it is in the theatre,” continues the director. “Until then, everything is a rumour.”

As for Shatner, he is similarly non-commital, revealing that nobody has been in contact with him regarding a potential cameo…

“Let's talk ST,” tweeted the star. “I don't know anything about the current gossip. Nobody has contacted me. Right now it's just rhetoric to cause hype.”

None of which means it isn’t happening, just that it can’t be confirmed as yet… Star Trek 3 is expected to open in 2016, to coincide with the show’s 50th anniversary.
