Chapter 4: Imperial City Infiltration

It's quiet here... too quiet, especially for a capital city. Your goal is the bar in the middle of town, but it's a bit of a trek to get there and you've got more special troopers on your tail. No worries, you can handle it.

You begin next to a dragon statue which you should, of course, make use of. Follow the snaking path to go further inside of town, where you'll see a big statue of... erm, snakes. It's not important right now, but keep it in mind, because you will need to make use of it much, much later on. There's a chest under an arch to the left with a Great Spirit Elixir. If you don't need it now, you can get it again later on. There's another open passageway, so head through there, beheading the various troopers that may attempt to get in your way as you make your way down. There's a locked door with a skull you'll see along the way. Make a note of it, since you'll want to visit there later.

You'll see the corpses of a few fallen ninjas when you come into the big open space in front of the Military Gates. Don't let them intimidate you - instead, just go ahead and examine them to get a new technique scroll and replenish your supply of arrows. Now, look for a door with a red, circular jewel on it, then go through it. There will be enemies waiting for you, so be prepared to take them out.

You'll wind up in an alleyway. There are some stairs leading down, but for the time being, go all the way to the end of the alley and make your way through the passage to find a golden vase. Break it open to get the Lunar, a very strong combo-oriented staff weapon. It's great for use in fighting off hordes of enemies with weaker defenses, but not so great on bosses and other steely defenders. You can make use of it right away, so give it a try and see if you like using it.

Head back to where you saw the stairs earlier and descend them. Go right and down to a new area where you'll have soldiers shooting at you from afar. Use your arrows to pick them off one-by-one. There's a hidden Life of the Gods here that you can get by climbing across blue-lined walls nearby (there's a kunai scroll in the vicinity detailing what to look out for). Shimmy across until you reach a ledge with a treasure chest, then pull yourself up and pick it up for another of these rare gems. Return back to the stairway.

There's another blue ledge to be found close to the top of the stairway. Use a Wall Run to grab the ledge and then make your way to the balcony. There's a wire hanging nearby - jump and grab it, then slide along until to reach the balcony on the other side. Here is a Lives of the Thousand Gods, which will immediately increase your life maximum when used.

While you were doing this, soldiers have appeared on the other balcony and will start firing at you. You can go back and kill them or just ignore them entirely, it's up to you. Drop down to the floor and check your surroundings. Nearby is a dragon statue and a door with a lily marking on it. The statue is usable, the door is not. There's also another dead ninja lying around here that has some Nunchaku you can loot. As cool as these sound, their usefulness is sadly limited - we suggest sticking to the swords and the Lunar for now.
