Genre: Animated comedy adventure

Plot: Taking hording to a whole new level, the adoptive family of orphan boy are trolls who take their name from their love of trash-collecting. Based on the children’s novel Here Be Monsters by Alan Snow, Boxtrolls is the new venture from Laika, creators of Coraline and ParaNorman . With a voice cast including Games Of Thrones ’ Isaac Hempstead Wright and comedy duo Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, it promises grubby thrills by the cave-load.

Plot: Boyz N The Hood ’s John Singleton is at the helm of this as-yet-untitled biopic of late rapper/actor Tupac Shakur. Singleton previously worked with Tupac for his 1993 romantic drama Poetic Justice , so he should bring some interesting insight into the late musician.

The Green Inferno

Plot: Trust Eli Roth to take a culturally enlightening, life-enriching experience and turn it into something utterly, pant-soilingly terrifying. Yip, The Green Inferno is based on an altruistic bunch of student activists who fly out to the Amazon to save a dying tribe. Only when their plane crashes, it turns out the tribe are more interested in having them FOR dinner.

Plot: This sober drama surrounding suicidal estranged twins sees the SNL comic duo Kristen Wiig and Bill Hader showcasing their serious side. Maggie (Wiig) and Milo (Hader) have an unexpected reunion after cheating death on the same day, forcing the siblings to reevaluate their past and present relationships.

Plot: Once again humans realise that time-travel causes more trouble than it’s worth in this found-footage thriller, in which teens change their past (and, by default, the future) after they build a time machine and use it to win the lottery and change their school grades. Think The Butterfly Effect produced by Michael Bay.

Genre: Crime thriller

Plot: Based on the 1980s TV series starring Edward Woodward, this no-holds-barred thriller sees Denzel Washington reteaming with his Training Day director, Antoine Fuqua. Washington plays retired intelligence officer Robert McCall, who ends up facing off against the Russian mafia when he attempts to help troubled hooker Teri (Moretz).
