Independence Day 2 & 3

Director: Roland Emmerich

Cast: TBC

Genre: Sci-Fi Sequel

Plot: Emmerich returns for two back-to-back sequels to the 1996 sci-fi action blockbuster, with stories that explore a world that's embraced the alien technology it was originally attacked with. 25 years down the line, humanity may have not fully harnessed the power of the alien tech, but they've utilised it as best as they can. Character-wise, it's set to focus on the step-son of Will Smith's character and a new generation of embittered freedom fighters as the aliens return to wage war on Earth.

UK Release Date: 1 July 2016

US Release Date: 1 July 2016

Avatar 2

Director: James Cameron

Cast: Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana

Genre: Sci-Fi Action Adventure

Plot: It's back…. and part of a newly announced four-part epic, as James Cameron aims to redefine technology and modern cinema in the process. While little is known about the plots of the next three movies, we do know that Cameron wants to explore Pandora's underwater world.

UK Release Date: December 2016

US Release Date: December 2016

James Bond 24

Director: Sam Mendes

Cast: Daniel Craig

Genre: Action Thriller

Plot: At the moment, everything's speculation. But being as it is a Bond movie, there's a whole lotta speculation to rifle through. The most prominent rumours at the moment? Penelope Cruz's being tapped to play a Bond girl! But that all tends to change on a daily basis, so who knows?

UK Release Date: 2016

US Release Date: 2016

X-Force

Director: Jeff Wadlow

Cast: TBC

Genre: Comic Book Actioner

Plot: Mark Millar's the man behind the evolution of Fox's Marvel cinematic universe, but he's keeping schtum on the next X-Men spin-off. Fans will be kept busy guessing which incarnation of the mutant team it'll focus on, but we're going to put bets on a harder, more R-Rated foray into the morally dubious, complex world of an X-Men wet works team. And with the director of Kick-Ass 2 on board to helm and write, it certainly feels like it could be a darker superhero flick than fans of the merry mutants are used to.

UK Release Date: 2016

US Release Date: 2016

Avatar 3

Director: James Cameron

Cast: Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana

Genre: Sci-Fi Action Adventure

Plot: Just one year after Avatar 2 , you can expect the third entry. Cue more Na'vi-related hijinks.

UK Release Date: 2017

US Release Date: 2017

The Amazing Spider-Man 4

Directors: TBC

Cast: Andrew Garfield

Genre: Superhero Adventure

Plot: Quite where Peter Parker'll be at this point is anyone's guess. But expect him to be down on his luck and full of quips. All we know is that Sony are keen to make the Spidey franchise work - and the 2018 date is locked in for the fourquel.

UK Release Date: 2018

US Release Date: 4 May 2018

Avatar 4

Director: James Cameron

Cast: Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana

Genre: Sci-Fi Action Adventure

Plot: Cameron's already confirmed that he's got scriptwriters on-board to write a fourth Avatar adventure. Expect more crazy technology, amazing 3D and stunningly realised worlds. Oh, and weird tail sex things.

UK Release Date: 2018

US Release Date: 2018

Prometheus 2

Director: Ridley Scott

Cast: TBC

Genre : Sci-fi

Plot: At this early stage ( Prometheus 2 hasn't actually received an official green light yet), any plot details are being firmly guarded by a slathering xenomorph (we assume). A script is written, though (by Jack Paglen), and Ridley Scott's keen on returning for more alien artery-bothering. Expect the plot to pick up where Prometheus left off, with android David (Michael Fassbender) accompanying Elizabeth Shaw (Noomi Rapace) on a deadly quest among the stars.
