After headlining Sin City and The Fantastic Four, Alba's just signed for The Insiders, the big-screen version of another comic series - this time one from, er, Belgium.
Okay, so the phrase 'Belgian comic series' isn't exactly the sexiest selling point (no, not even when it's Tintin), but there's obviously something special about publisher Dargaud's illustrated adventuring, seeing as Alba stumped up a big chunk of the money herself to buy the rights.
And the blurb certainly sounds interesting, with the film focusing on "Najah Cruz, a Columbian who is as deadly as she is beautiful.
She has the weapons expertise and combat skills of a James Bond.
At the secret request of the White House she infiltrates a worldwide mafia-like organisation composed of businessmen and politicians and becomes the bodyguard of the organisation's leader.
Sounds a little Alias to us, although it's hard to tell the direction the film will take - could it go dark and gritty, like the Bourne franchise, with Alba as a determined superspy who'll crack heads to get what she wants?
Or will it ramp up the silly and make her some kind of high-kicking, ball-busting femme fatale who defies the laws of gravity and wears skimpy leather outfits?
We'll let you ponder that one. Probably for a while.
However, with the action being helmed by Mabrouk el Mechri, last seen coaxing Jean Claude Van Damme's Id onto the screen in odd 'biopic' JCVD, we're thinking this could be better than it looks...
