LucidSound has entered the budget headset fray with a new battery champion that provides one hour of battery for every $1
The LS500 wireless headset for Xbox and PS5 is available now
The PowerA-owned audio tech brand LucidSound unveiled its new LS500 wireless gaming headset on May 19, 2026, which despite its cheap price, manages to pack in an impressive 70-hour battery life.
The newly announced pair is available in models for both the Xbox Series X/S and the PS5 and can achieve those 70 hours of playback on a single charge over Bluetooth, or it can reach up to 50 hours when hooked up to its included wireless USB dongle. While some of the best gaming headsets I've tested at the $100 mark struggle to provide more than 40 hours, this new budget-friendly pair can achieve that at just $69.99 (Amazon), regardless of which model you choose.
The new LucidSound LS500 is available in both a PlayStation (LS500P) and Xbox (LS500X) models, but both are equipped with quick access audio controls, a glasses-friendly fit, custom-tuned 50 mm audio drivers, and a flip-to-mute microphone with mic monitoring.
LS500X (Xbox): $69.99 at Amazon
I've tested a lot of budget-friendly wireless headsets in my time, and up to 70 hours at a $70 price point is pretty impressive. Even my current go-to headset, the SteelSeries Arctis Nova 3 Wireless, that I recommend for those looking for something around and below the $100 mark, can only achieve up to 40 hours of playback. Although the pair is equipped with fast charging, which helps make up for it.
The LucidSound LS500 doesn't have fast charging itself, but PowerA boasts that there is plenty more to like about this new pair of cups that "delivers the sound, comfort, and flexibility players expect", according to Sr Director of Marketing and Strategic Partnerships, Matt Hiler. Talking of comfort, this headset only weighs in at just 265g, which definitely makes it one of the lightest options out there. For comparison, the Logitech G325 Lightspeed comes in at a close 212g, and that's been the lightest pair I've tested and reviewed to date.
The LS500 also features custom-tuned 50mm audio drivers to provide "clear, balanced stero sound" according to the press release, and there's three EQ modes at your fingertips to achieve a more personalised sound. As the pair is available for both the Xbox Series X/S and the PS5 they can come supporting either Windows Sonic or Sony's Tempest 3D AudioTech - it just depends on whether you stick with the LucidSound LS500X or the LucidSound LS500P.
Both versions are available right now at Amazon and the official PowerA website in the US in Black and White colorways. For those of you on a budget-friendly headset hunt in the UK, you'll have to wait or look elsewhere, as no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't quite find these across the pond. If and when that changes, I'll be sure to let you know, but you can check out the best wireless headsets guide to find low-cost alternatives worth your attention.

Weekly digests, tales from the communities you love, and more

Ever since I first held a NES controller in my hand I've been obsessed with gaming, and the hardware it runs on. I could hook up a NES and SNES to a telly, without instructions, before I could walk. Even now, nothing is more exciting then taking a console, or handheld, out the box for the first time and setting it up. This obsession transformed into a love of games and game music, which lead to my music degree and dream of becoming the Scottish Nobuo Uematsu. After sharing my love of games through music, I began to share my love through words on sites like TechRadar and iMore. This lead to becoming a Hardware staff writer for PCGamesN, and later the Senior Tech Writer for Dexerto, covering all things Steam Deck, PlayStation and Nintendo. With that experience, I was able to level up as Hardware Editor for GamesRadar+, where I'm still just as Nintendo, PlayStation and gaming tech obsessed as ever.
