Have you ever been humiliated in a Singstar 'battle' with one of your more angelic voiced chums? Have you ever wanted to get even by challenging them at a real 'battle' like Eminem in 8 Mile? Well now you can with Eidos's hip-hop heavy, Get On Da Mic.
In a swift move to appeal to the rap lovers amongst us, Eidos are set to unleash an 'urban' karaoke (or 'Rapaoke' as Eidos want to stupidly call it) title on yo' ass. Thankfully this time you're able to spit rhymes like Dre, rather than strain your pipes past breaking point to Petula Clark's Downtown.
Using a USB headset (sorry, no Singstar mics here) you're task is to rap along and be rewarded if you nail it word-for-word. Sometimes it's easy, other times, such as Dizzee Rascal's Fix Up, Look Sharp, it's truly nails. One duff point is that the swearing has been removed, but for the juvenile in us all the good new is that you get bonus points if you do the naughty words.
Get On Da Mic also allows gamers to kit out his/her character and take them from a wannabe hip-hop star, to the king (or Queen) of bling. You can purchase jewellery, a home cinema and even a castle. Hell, you can even buy a private jet.
Playing through the career mode you'll start out in front of the uninspiring surroundings of your bathroom mirror. But as your rhymes get slicker you'll soon be busting lyrics on a world tour in front of thousands.
There's serious potential for 'post-pub' madness, thanks to the Freestyle mode. Rather than picking a track with lyrics, you can choose a beat-laden soundtrack and fire out some fresh lines to impress your mates. And best of all, you can record your skills using EyeToy.
