The Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream demo has taken fans of Nintendo's wacky 3DS game from 2013 by storm after dropping seemingly out of the blue, prompting mind-boggling Mii creations and all sorts of chaos – but datamining has potentially unveiled some bad news.
That bad news is that the full game might not support more than 70 Miis total per island, as per various post-datamining rumors floating about online – and that's quite a few fewer Miis than the 100 maximum your island can host in the original Tomodachi Life on the 3DS.
The potential of just 70 Miis has spurred many opinionated discussions, as seen in one post on Twitter. "I NEED SPACE FOR 100 SO I CAN MAKE MY WII SPORTS ISLAND," reads a reply.

Another argues, "Can we wait til release or an official announcement before panicking?!" I suppose they do have a point, especially as other folks are reporting that they've somehow managed to push the game demo to support a whopping 256 Miis before "breaking" – but there's no real way to confirm any of this until Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream releases on April 16. That's not stopping the debates online, though, unsurprisingly.
Under a separate thread over on Reddit, somebody says, "I think hoping for more than 100 is wishful thinking." They justify this, explaining, "Think about it: in the 3DS version, the Miis didn't have an open space to roam around all at once. You'd find maybe max 10 Miis on the same screen."
Obviously, this isn't the case in Living the Dream – and having 100 or more Miis roaming around at once could put quite the damper on the game's performance.

"Yes, we have a device that's more powerful than the 3DS," as the fan concludes, "but now we have a 3D space, cell shading, dynamic lighting/shadows, even hair physics." I mean, they do make a good point.
However, I do feel like the Switch 2 could pull off more than 70 at least, myself – not to mention, not all Miis will be outside their homes at once. Even during the Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream demo, one out of my three Miis was usually inside.
I'll be keeping my own fingers for 100 Miis or so – but, considering all the content that's in the works for Living the Dream, I won't be disappointed if it truly is capped out at 70. Here's hoping that, no matter what, Nintendo's new gem impresses.
