When beginning Nioh 3 you'll be allowed to choose your appearance, but it's not clear if you'll be able to change it again after that initial time spent in character creation when the game starts. Fortunately there is a way to change your appearance later on, including a weapon and armor transmog feature to change your gear's appearance too, but you'll have to earn them. I'll show you how to unlock the change appearance feature in Nioh 3 below, as well as where you can find it in-game.
How to change your appearance in Nioh 3
To change your appearance after character creation in Nioh 3, players need to progress through the main story of the game until you get to the point where you defeat the boss Jakotsu-Baba in 1572 CE. Once that's done, speak with Ii Naotora and you'll be given the Guiding Mirror, which allows you to access the Eternal Rift, a new hub area that you'll be able to access through the fast travel system, and in which you can change your appearance.
Once you're there, head to the Northern building and go upstairs. At the end of the balcony on the left, you'll find a mirror you can interact with. You can come here at any point to change your character's appearance and build, as you did at the start of the game, or to change the appearance of your weapons and armor. Hear, any gear you have unlocked can be changed to match the appearance of any other gear you have unlocked of the same type, without altering its stats or functionality in any way.

Joel Franey is a writer, journalist, podcaster and Very Tired Man with a BA from Brunel University, a Masters from Sussex University and a decade working in games journalism, often focused on guides coverage but also in reviews, features and news. His love of games is strongest when it comes to groundbreaking narratives like Disco Elysium, UnderTale and Baldur's Gate 3, as well as innovative or refined gameplay experiences like XCOM, Sifu, Arkham Asylum or Slay the Spire. He is a firm believer that the vast majority of games would be improved by adding a grappling hook, and if they already have one, they should probably add another just to be safe.
