Ex Sanguis is a tactical turn-based strategy game about bleeding the world back to life, and it's coming to Steam in early access form this May, as announced at FGS Live From GDC, the sister broadcast to Future Games Show Spring Showcase.
From the developers of acclaimed tactical roguelite Othercide, Lightbulb Crew's next title tasks you with commanding elite warriors known as Stillae against the forces of Stasis to save a dying and drained world in need of life-giving blood. You can play a demo right now on Steam, which lets you play as all three Stillae – Kael, Syra, and Liora – and try out a whole host of skills and unlockable traits.
In Ex Sanguis, you'll have to plan your attacks, even thinking multiple turns ahead at times, to overcome the Stasis agents who want to freeze the world in perfection. You can even manipulate time a little thanks to Timeline Effects, letting you affect the turn order of combat and outmanoeuvre your foes.
Many of the Stillae warriors' abilities also allow you to physically move your enemies, so Ex Sanguis is as much about dealing pure damage as it is using the environment to your advantage to set up elaborate combos and chain reactions.
The game also has some roguelite elements in the form of procedural levels that eventually lead to powerful boss fights. You'll learn more about the world of Stasia as you play and you get to retain some progress.
As mentioned, Ex Sanguis will be coming to Steam in early access in May. There's no indication of when the full release will be, but you can add the game to your Steam Wishlist, try the demo, and follow the developers on Twitter to keep up to date.
