Furi is one of those games that seems simple on the surface - "It's a top-down bullet hell shoot-em-up mixed with 1-on-1 combat duels, that's kinda cool," you might think. But then you see shades of Devil May Cry, Journey, even Shadow of the Colossus, and that the characters were designed by Afro Samurai creator Takashi Okazaki.
Suddenly it doesn't seem so simple; it sounds pretty freakin' cool. Then you watch its debut trailer showing off a mysterious samurai-like character with a red coat flowing like water through waves of projectiles before going in for the (over-the-top) kill, and a wave of "aww yeah" washes over you. I mean, that's what happened for me, anyway. I suppose your experience may differ.
Furi is currently slated for a spring 2016 release date on PC and PlayStation 4.
