Gears of War got a bit bigger this week with the release of a new map pack - Hidden Fronts. The downloadable arenas are currently available on Xbox Live for 800 Microsoft Points ($10). The pack will be free to all on September 3.
The map quartet's biggest selling point is probably its diversity. The settings include a dark and rainy swamp, an underground factory, a gas-choked greenhouse and even a subway station. Some new gameplay elements have been added as well. The greenhouse's lethal fumes can be controlled with a central switch station and, in the swamp, lights can be knocked out to attract murderous swarms of Kryll.
If you're still on the fence about purchasing the new content, take a look at our four custom gameplay videos. We've got one blood-soaked movie per map... they'll give you an excellent idea of what you're getting for your money.
See the first below and then hit the page tabs to the left to see the rest.
Bullet Marsh: "In this Kryll-infested swamp, an old generator still powers the area lights. A few stray bullets could easily knock out the generator, leaving combatants to fend for themselves against the Kryll."
