Good news, sci-fi fans. It looks like the curse of movie trailers spoiling the whole film will not affect Steven Spielberg's upcoming extraterrestrial tale Disclosure Day, as promised by the director.
Whilst at CinemaCon 2026, Seilberg took to the stage to promote the new movie, adding that no part of the movie's climax has been and will not be shown in any type of marketing. The official CinemaCon Twitter page confirmed the news, writing, "Spielberg says he was very careful and protective of NOT revealing the third act in any of the trailers or previews."
This is good news, as it feels like now more than ever, so many movies are being spoiled by overzealous trailers that give far too much away. But Spielberg is keeping his cards pretty close to his chest with this one. The movie's cryptic description reads, "If you found out we weren’t alone, if someone showed you, proved it to you, would that frighten you? This summer, the truth belongs to seven billion people. We are coming close to… Disclosure Day."
Article continues belowThe first Disclosure Day trailer didn't spill any beans either. The footage shows Emily Blunt as a weather presenter who starts speaking in an alien language whilst on air. It seems as though she's not the only one experiencing unexplained phenomena, as Josh O’Connor's character joins her to try and get to the bottom of what is happening.
However, it sounds like another teaser is on the way, as at CinemaCon, Spielberg presented yet another trailer, this time giving the audience the first look at the film's alien being. As reported by Discussing Film, the clip teases the movie's monsters, showing O'Connor happen on a video of extraterrestrial bodies, and Blunt witnesses a deer transform into a big grey alien right in front of her.
The new clip also suggests that O’Connor and Blunt's characters may have a deeper connection, as if they were abducted together as children. O'Connor can decipher Blunt's strange language and seems to be cracking the case until government officials come after him in an exciting car chase.
Disclosure Day is based on a story by Spielberg, who has reteamed with Jurassic Park writer David Koepp. The movie also stars Colin Firth, Eve Hewson, and Colman Domingo.
